For what it's worth....
1 I don't trust anyone at any dealership or shop anymore.
2 The only way to find out for us owners is to try things (like we are) and see what works/ lasts the longest.
3 In my opinion, overall, the quality of this vehicle is garbage, the workmanship is half ass and obvioulsly VH has no QC dept. that cares.
4 Since VH won't support the dealers, we are left to our own devices, forums etc.
I hope we as a group can come up with "fixes" for their incompetence and lack of R&D.
I'll keep the group posted as I'm sure you will RT. Thanks for your dedication as well.

I agree!! They asked me if i wanted a new cap. And return my 2day old one. I thought, more of the same.
I was panicking when i pull up, to get gas and just spins. People all around what is it? Um dead
I enjoy fixing things! Keep up good work! We are officially testers now.
Could not help myself! I pulled it all apart, as a attorney once told me. its irretrievably broken! See black plastic dowl that breaks off and the mangled spring.
God bless

How tough was it to seperate the two pieces?

Ironically, I just did it about 30mins ago...the actual "gas cap" plastic part is the edge you see just inside the knurled part, I was able to wedge a putty knife in between the edge and the knurled edge. I slowly worked it around prying gently until the glue (pictured in Rusty Teeth pics) to pop loose. The gas cap came out easily.

Awesome, we work together and we will get this thing sweet!. My friend is working on a 3rd brake light kit. I'm afraid drivers cant see us, with brakes under the rear hood. ugh.
Here is epoxy or glue in the lid to pry out, I gently scuffed up the new cap, dumped a bit of hot glue. Heated the whole metal cap up in my sink with a blow dryer and sunk the new cap into the old knurled cap! see pix

We can barely find a normal one that works without a lock! See above posts. do you think someone will tamper or steal it?
look up the part numbers I listed and find a locking match on amazon. Please post it as your the first. THX

Put the Entire cap in the kitchen sink, and warmed it with a heat gun, it was easy to separate once heated. Aluminum Cap gets hot and stays hot use leather gloves and have your thin pry devices close by ready for action. "small putty knife" 2 allowed for an easy twist pry. Used small piece of hot glue stick once removed to install best fitting cap.
Still getting very intermittent codes after fill up. Seeing a few loose hoses from factory. On the tank side hoses are not routed nicely for vent and over fill tube. Investigating that. will post in another area.

I have finally received the ordered lockable replacement from Stant:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C846NW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_image
It is part number B000C846NW (or 10511) and no issues or codes on the Venice 2022.
This winter I will try to loosen the original cap and drill a matching hole for the lock.
