Speedster conversion - JustMike - 07-07-2020

I was hoping to locate a speedster, but that attempt is proving to be futile.  So, I was wondering if anyone has tried to convert their Venice into a single seat speedster by removing passenger seat and fabricating a cowl?   I know the rear section is different on the speedster, but a cowl could be fabricated to include the hump behind headrest.   To me it would be the best of both worlds.   Might approach a custom body shop and see if they would want to give it a go....

There was a posting in one of the Facebook forums about making a 2-seater into a Speedster.

I'd think it easier to buy a Speedster that do a modification.

I don't think it would be that difficult. There is not a lot of difference.  Besides, finding a speedster now is like trying to locate a needle in a haystack.  They have all been sold.

Hmm, would imagine it would have to be rear/mid engine in order for that to happen.

I love the Speedster, but I think Vanderhall missed an opportunity with it.

Vanderhall has said they wanted to put a manual transmission in it from the beginning, but there wasn't enough interior space to fit it. With the Speedster's single seat they would have had plenty space for a manual, and room for a better drivers seat too.

The person on Facebook made a template using plywood ribbing sheeted it.
Then put fiberglass on it and peeled it off. Did a petting nice job.

Maybe. Polaris went the opposite direction (from manual to auto) to try and increase market share.  In this day and age, it is difficult to find a car with a manual!   I think for the purists, manuals will always be the way to go.  The bump/paddle shifters give you the best of both worlds and are faster.   To each his own I guess....   Enjoy!

Thanks!  After a little research, I found out you can just buy the panels from Vanderhall and build your own.  Smile
