Good to know information - coolwhip - 07-25-2019
I've owned my VV for 9 months. I found the owner's manual very incomplete, inaccurate, and poorly formatted. Over the months, I have learned a few things that others may be wondering about:
1. There is a pigtail to attach a battery charger located inside the left front wheel well, forward of the shock absorber rocker, accessible without removing the hood.
2. The special socket needed for the wheel lugs is inside the storage area behind the seats, in a clip overhead.
3. Dimmer switch for the dash lights, option which I installed, does not shut off completely. BTW, directions that came with it were incorrect.
4. I added a small steel plate with double sided tape under the glove box so I could attach small items with magnets.
5. You need to carry a 4mm (5/32") allen wrench to remove the hood in an emergency.
6. Factory says bottom side of floor is flat and you can lift with a jack anywhere except under gas tank, or forward of the front seam, under radiators. Look before jacking.
7. Some confusion over the proper oil filter. Mine uses GM# 25195784 even though the label on the filter cap says a different number. Drain plug is 10mm, oil filter is 24mm.
8. Under hood, label says use DESOX1 oil. This is actually supposed to say DEXOS1. One dealer tried to sell me DEXOS2, but that's for diesel engines.
Others have probably learned many more items of interest. Please post them. Thanks.
EDIT 1/1/2020: In note 7 above the filter number is a typo. It should be 25195785. This is also AC Delco PF2263G. I have a UFI filter housing with a brown cap. The cap is marked to say to use 25195775. I found that 25195775 was replaced by 25195785. Thanks to Brummbar's post today, I discovered more info and correct this.

Later model 2018’s and all 2019‘s have a dimmer switch built into the button on the speedometer. Press and hold the button for about one second and a light bulb icon will appear, you can then adjust the brightness of the dash lights.

Also, i picked up an inexpensive pair of polarized glasses for driving dusk through dark. Eye protection + significantly diminishes glare on windscreen. the lenses are just barely tinted, no issues at all driving in the dark (tested on some pitch black country roads with no issues)

If you read the OBD2 codes, you will always see P0650 MIL Control Circuit/Open. No problem. (Dealer quoted Vanderhall rep.) Also, to see extended codes, identify vehicle as 2013 Chevy Cruze to scanner. If you need a valid VIN for such, see https://www.decodethis.com/archives/. Many of the body and dashboard bolts are M6 x 18mm Button Head Socket Cap Screws (35mm for main gauges).[url=https://www.decodethis.com/archives/][/url]

Noticed a couple of days ago that the turn signals blink 3 times if you move the stalk but don't completely engage the turn signal. I use it for lane changes.

It's a 2018. Number 532 (last 3 of the VIN). Purchased Sept 2018 at Lynnwood Motorsports (WA).

An item I've not seen mentioned: occasionally, on shutdown, when I turn my key to the left, it will shut down but not go
the next click so the key can be remove. I figured out that if I tap the brake pedal, the key can now be turned the next click, and removed. I haven't been able to determine why this happens. May be related to shutdown sequence - shift to park, foot on/off pedal, when key first turned, etc. This hasn't been a problem, yet, since taping the pedal has always worked.

Good info coolwhip! I knew nothing about the lock for the lug nuts. At least I know what it was that I removed from under the floor after pulling out the seats!! Every time I cornered, it would roll around under there, and drive me nuts!
