260 miles on and got check engine light. Need help with the Codes
#1

Hi, just bought a new 2022 Venice GTS and after 260 miles I got the check engine light on. The car ran smooth and no issues while in idle, but I took to the dealership anyway. It took them several days to get back to me, saying that they ran the scanner and found that the error code for the gas cap sensor, they contacted Vanderhall who told them to clear the code and ride for 60 miles and see if the check engine light would come back on again.

I went to pick up the car, they had put 10 miles on it already. I brought it back home, drove a few times, and around 70 miles after clearing the code the check engine light got back on again. I called the dealership and they want me to take the vehicle back for another tests (what ever that means).

I bought a OBD reader and scanned the codes, see the attachment. I'm looking for guidance since the dealership is kind far from me.

EDIT: attachment did got through. Here are the codes:
P0442 EVA System Leak Detected
P0650 MIL Control circuit/Open

On my 2019 Venice, always get the P0650 code. I was told to ignore it. Goggle the other code and you'll see it can be caused by loose or ill-fitting gas cap or leak of fuel vapor. HTH.

I got similar codes, had gas cap issue. also my favorite non ethanol gas station was out of premium so I used regular. One of the kicked the code. Cleared it after fixing Cap and topped off with premium. That was at about 200mile mark. have maybe 500 now. Had to repair the original gas cap. the aftermarket ones don't just feel right.

Search gas cap, or my posts. Alot of issues in 1st 2weeks with the cap. I tried 2 they worked but didnt feel right. I also have pix if you disassembled yours. If it locks nicely its not that. But it will fail. I have the oem part numbers and sledman and few others tried diff brands. You have a code reader? Amazon has a really nice one for less than 20$  mine was on sale for 7$  i have pix of that also on here.  Let me know how i can help!  Its fun

Evap, code is inter related to gas cap. But not really.Told by very reliable source, that the purge solenoid valve notorious for going bad in all ecotec engines. It can be tested, its near the dipstick on a 2022 v v  it polls the fuel tank pressure few times. One is on fill up. Leading you to believe its bad cap.
Really its a leaking solenoid.  At first was small leak then larger evap leak.  Working on that, will report with the cure! Im obsessed!

I prefer the factory cap, it needs fixed if you shake it and it sounds like a loose BB in there. We have taken ours apart and hot glued it back into the knurled cap
