I'm not getting old, but my body is and I just don't feel as confident as I used to handling a 900 lb. two-wheeler. Love everything I have seen/heard about the Vanderhall, and am seriously considering trading in the Harley and getting one. Here to learn what I can from your experiences, and who knows, maybe even make a few friends.
Hi Wingnut- I like your handle. Reminds me of when I was young- it was a popular insult. I've been riding motorcycles for about the same time- mostly Italian and German, which are also getting too heavy. Sigh.
The Vanderhall is a hoot to drive- I describe it as driving a gokart, which is kind of an oversimplification but most people get that. It is both quick and fast, but since it is so low to the ground, even 40mph feels fast enough. At 40-50, it is actually very quiet- the windscreen forms a good pocket. This goes away of course at high speed and wind noise does get pretty loud at 70-80.
They handle very well- but the turning radius is too big for such a small vehicle. Oh well.
They get a lot of attention no matter where you go. And they are spacious enough to go to the grocery store.
You have to climb into the cockpit- no door. But the space is ample for tall people. Especially tall skinny people. If you ride with a passenger, you should be comfortable touching them.
I'm actually thinking seriously of selling mine. I have a, uh, teenager that is getting their license soon. They don't need to be borrowing this to drive and since I still have motorcycles, I need to relieve any temptation.
Where in Iowa? I used to live in Iowa City...
