Please move this if I placed it in wrong section. Thx Mods!!
Was it you or perhaps someone else who posted in the forum the schematic of the bumper shifter ? (or pedal shifters, for that matter)
In it, it shows that all it is a set of wires and resistors that signal the ECU computer which in turn tells the transmission which gear to go to.
That being the case, one could find such wires in the harness, or re-route it to the steering wheel. In cars, I have seen photos of stationary
paddle shifters and and shifters which rotates with the steering wheel. Heck, you can have bumper shifter AND paddle shifters.
One could make a case for adapting a couple of [nicely designed] switches mounted on the steering wheel, handily accessible to your
thumbs. Way cheaper that way. My dealer quoted me a price of $1,100 for an original paddle shifters. Dang, for that price, a tuner
sounds like a better deal.
