Mine doesn't do that as far as I can tell. May be an easy fix though.
Most vehicles have a switch at the brake pedal that is normally engaged when the pedal is not depressed. When you depress the pedal, the switch disengages, which turns on the brake lights. It looks like a little spring loaded button button, and it's usually mounted to something threaded. I think it would be pretty simple to get down there and adjust it.
