VH is crap!
#1

Bad body work and finish, CV boot failures, transmission failures. The Blackjack finish is garbage, just look at it and it gets a scratch. I've wasted 25K and should have kept my Harley that I traded in, Vanderhall is crap! If you are considering a purchase don't!

I have emailed the factory twice, no reply. Time for my lawyer to get involved.

Well, I’m not going to argue with you.

I only have 5000 miles on mine and it is in the shop for the suspension stop recall (done quickly and scheduled in a timely fashion) and for a wheel bearing “blow-out” on the drivers side front (NOT the boot).  Parts on order for that fix as of last Thursday (07-23-20).  The dealer hadn’t heard anything about this problem although I’ve seen it on a forum before and at first they couldn’t even find it ( I had cleaned the wheel rims with the entire cart before taking it in, duh).  But when I insisted that they look again and closer to the wheel-axle center hub interface, they found it.  Inspection of other front wheel did not reveal a problem.  So now I have to wait for parts and repair; and hope that the right front is properly buttoned up!

This is my first real issue with the Speedster ( 2019 Venice), and the Venice being now three years old, one would hope that the new vehicle birthing pangs are being quelled.

Harley has had over a hundred years to sort out most of their issues, and a traditional Harley trike might be the best choice for you after all.

I hope you can get your Venice repaired and running soon enough to take advantage of the Harley sales going on now with an honestly good deal trade.

Nobody needs the kind of aggravation you have described.

Good luck.

Thx
Due to a condition in my shoulders, arms and hands I can no longer safely operate a vehicle with handlebars. That is why I traded my 2013 HD Switchback in on the Blackjack. Years ago I purchased the 1st year model of a motorcycle and had major problems, I swore I'd never buy a first year model again. I assumed VH would have worked out most bugs in 4 years.

Not to say VH assembly doesn't have issues (loose bolts, broken welds) but the mechanical things you listed are GM parts.
What upsets me is the lack of dealer knowledge and the warranty repair process.

I feel that the earlier models 2017-2019, 1.4L motor, were better made.

I just had a track day with many of the engineers from Polaris. They manufacture the entire drive train and motor for the slingshot and have total control over the quality, and they know what they are doing. That might be an option for you.

I personally don't care for the looks and overall design of the slingshot, and is why I went with VH. I also never though a motorcycle/ATV dealership could handle the repairs and always intended to fix it my self.

you make a good observation about the GM lineage.  I saw the comment earlier on another thread or u-tube that one (larger?) shop had hired a GM tech just to address the VH service/ repairs.  Said GM sourced needs were were also more efficiently procured.  I asked my independent mechanic if he would wrench the VH and he was game to do so but stopped by the necessity for a special lift; unwilling to crawl around under ramps; I guess too much trouble, with plenty of auto work coming in.

Post warrantee I'll be doing my own maintenance and repairs. If I keep it that long I'll also do the BNR tune.

the New VH doesn't even have equal length shafts like the pre-2019 units. they are cutting corners on every single process.

I used my VHBJ for 80 miles and still at the shop for almost 2 weeks now and the shop still waiting for VH to approve the repairs.

I will bet once is approved. parts will take weeks  and the issue will still be there
