Rear fender has crack near upper bolt on flat portion of fender. Any suggestions about gluing or otherwise treating the crack to stop spread and avoid having to replace the fender? TIA

I had some peeling of the paint on my rear fender after just a very minor gas splash near the filler hole. whole fender is OK'd to be replaced under warranty. new fender is actually at the dealer i just need to schedule the service. it is pretty cumbersome to remove the fender from what i hear....seats have to come out to get access to the roll bars for removal and such, according to the dealer shop

I would think the black pipe ABS glue would be the best to use if it won't show. If you could glue a piece of ABS to the underside that would reinforce the area. This is exactly what I did. I cut some strips of ABS and used plastic pipe glue (actually just a solvent; methyl ethyl ketone should be a major component for use on ABS) to fuse the strips to the underside of the fender. The crack was hard to see unless the fender was flexed a bit and now doesn't show at all when I flex the fender. Picture with strips clamped to fender attached.
