I just got wood grain arm rest from Vanderhall Parts - how to get bump shifter off?

 I have worked with lock tight for many years and the simplest way to remove the shifter knob is to use a propane torch and heat the shaft.  The heat will travel up to the threads on the shaft and release the lock tight.  Be sure to use a pad on the knob when turning off as it will be hot.
