Also don't forget that how you buy can drastically affect the rate (online quote vs phone quote from provider directly vs Quote from independent agent). For instance my insurance didn't insure it so they referred to their "partner" Hagerty which they quoted 1,100 yearly with their "relationship rate". I then proceeded to enter the info directly on Hagerty's site and received a 680-750 yearly depending on how I adjusted the coverage!
Hagerty? Really? I am a club member with Hagerty and just this spring, when I called to inquire, they didn't know what a Vanderhall was and upon further discussion stated that they didn't insure trikes but were considering doing so.
my insurance company also didn't insure trikes and they arranged my insurance for me through Foremost (Farmers).
that insurance was also $1100-1200 per year. I went looking for myself and now i have Insurance coverage starting soon from Allstate.
Allstate actually lists Vanderhall on their website! the local agent didn't know Vanderhall but when I took the online quote to the agent, the $400 -500 rate went to $260 for full year coverage at 250/500 and coverage for comprehensive and collision with $1000 or less deductible.
much less than i paid for my last three motorcycles each individually!
unbelievable really, since i have no other insurance with Allstate; but there it is.
Yeah, Hagerty has it under their cars as a "roadster" so it's counterintuitive. I'm in KY for what that's worth.
