Mine were:/ I picked it up and drove it 2 hours home from the dealer and didn't realize the brakelights were stuck on until I put it in the garage for the night. Annoying and dangerous.
I'm a life-long tinkerer, but try not to be the "if ain't broke, fix it until it is" type. Anyhow, long story short, I figured it was unlikely that the switch was bad, so I worked back from there. If I manually worked the switch (under the dash worked by a pin on the brake pedal), the lights would go off too. I noticed that it was close to working right, but seemed to be binding. By putting my feet through the roll over hoops and laying under the dash (funnelled a few beers too), I was able to see that the switch seemed to be askew. Mine was binding on a bracket that likely went in after the switch. I loosed the bracket and moved the switch over 3/8" of an inch (it went to the position it wanted when I loosened the bracket) and everything was worked as intended. It ended up being an easy fix, but it could have been something that required a lot of hassle. YMMV...

I'm no Texas Oatmeal, but I think I will start taking more notes and pictures of my Vanderhall adventures. I've done this with low volume motorcycles like Aprilia and it's always nice to save others some fretting, frustration, or busted knucklesWink
At least one other had the same problem I had with the brake pedal switch binding on a bracket and having the brake lights stay on most of the time - annoying and dangerous.
I've got the 2020 Venice Blackjack (VBJ) which is literally the black sheep of the Vanderhalls. It's very different from previous models (like the 2020s), but different from the 2020s too - 1.4l LE2 (versus 1.5l), different turbo (Mitsubishi), and very few options and extras (no... heat, heated seats, cruise, speakers, bump shifter, rear fender, etc.). I wanted it to be basic and no frills, but knew I wanted the bump shifter and, now I know, I want the the rear fender. The existing rear fender kit will fit the VBJ, but it only comes in gloss. No worries on painting it, since I will probably end up painting (or wrapping) the hood too. I really like the matte and general 50 shades of grey color scheme, but the hood "scratches when you look at it wrong" (to quote another VBJ owner). Maybe I Rhino Line the hood and rear fender?
So, I verified with my dealer that the bump shift kit fits all models (they verified with Vanderhall) and that it doesn't have to be installed by a dealer, so I ordered one up! The installation of the bump shift in the "door" sill pretty much followed the instructions from Vanderhall (except I had to take the "door" panel off because there is no speaker to pop out and fish out the bump shift to transmission connector). Like all of the "captured nut" clips on the Vanderhall, the ones for the bump shifter are crap. I ended up going with washer and locknuts where I could get my fingers on the bolts. It installed fine and went back together ok, but the instructions from there had no application to my 2020 VBJ:/ The transmission linkage very different. When I went to look for the 'M'anual mode block off clip, there was something that looked similar, but different. [Message me for pics.] I did my best to follow the procedure to remove the block off, but not sure if it did anything at all. [I had the hood off, so changed the oil too which is different than previous model years because the LE2 range has a traditional spin on oil filter on the bottom of engine - no big deal, but the Texas Oatmeal video didn't help me much.] After fiddling with different linkage, the shifter still wouldn't go in Manual mode:/ If I were designing something to accommodate with and without Manual mode, *I* would put the block off in the shifter end versus the transmission linkage end. So, I pulled up the shifter boot to take a look. [Boot is just tucked around inside the plastic "tunnel" cover, but my bet is that when it was assembled, they just put the cover on after the boot - message me if you want tips on how to get the boot re-tucked without moving the plastic cover.] As soon as I looked at the shifter internals, I saw that they had installed a stick on urethane stopper to limit the travel of the shifter and block off Manual mode! I pried that off (keep hold of it or it will be lost in the tunnel) and had a fully functioning Manual mode and bump shifter - yay, me a job done. [Message me for tips on getting the hood back on and all the crappy captured nut clips to align. However, there are a LOT of posts about this and I will be getting Dzus or other quarter turn fasteners before the next oil change. Fingers crossed that I won't have to get the hood off for a major failure like axle/CV or turbo.]
Everything is buttoned up and ready for the next outing. I learned a lot and am still a Vanderhall fan...

I've found others also wanting to be able to adjust or tilt the seats forward.  I made two modifications to my 2018 Venice to address this.

First, I wanted the driver's seat to tilt more forward (the back more upright).  I loosened the four screws holding the seat down: loosening the front screws only a little, but loosening the rear two enough (without removing them) to slip a 1/2" spacer under the rail at each screw, then retightened all.  This tilted it enough for me.  If you want to tilt more, you would need longer rear screws, and a thicker spacer.

BTW- I found that the four screws holding the seat in place are all 8mm, all the same thread.  The two in the rear are socket head cap screws and reqiure a long rounded 6mm allen wrench.  The front two are round head screws needing a 5mm allen wrench.  The nuts are the loose clip type and it is hard to get the rear ones aligned when retightening, if you have to remove the screws completely.  I changed the front two to socket head cap screws so all match. SHCSs have a deeper socket and are easier to work with.

Second, after watching a Texas Oatmeal YouTube of how he modified his passenger seat to tilt forward on hinges, I did the same to mine.  I did mine a little different, but basically the same.  My hinge may have been different, or his screws located different, but I did not have to drill out the hinge to get the proper location.  I had to trial and error determine the right spacer under thr rear of the seat so it would rest at the proper level.  The only thing to watch for is to put a small rope or cable on it so it can't be tilted forward enough to bump the windshield.

This is the hinge I used:   from Amazon, Black Solo Seat Springs 3" for Harley & Custom Satin Black Barrel Springs   (toss the springs)

I do have a question for the group?

it appears some VH are showing fatigue cracks on the firewall right on top or near the rear trans mount. and having some loud or isolation rattle noises.

Just picked up a 2020 Venice Blackjack. I figure if they are going to build something like this AND the DOT is going to allow us to have it, count me in!
Not many Vanderhalls around since the nearest dealer is an hour away. I did see a Carmel GT today - shout-out!
I’m still breaking it in and already fixed a glitch with the brake pedal light switch. A bracket was interfering with the switch mount and binding it up. I separated them and works fine now. I will be adding the bump steer 1st thing, so if anyone has one and doesn’t want it or wants to switch to paddle shift, hit me up!

Purchased a 2020 and now have just over 1000 miles on it. It had sat the last two weeks and the vehicle would not crank. Just a lot of lights and clicking. The battery voltage was 11.6 and it did start with a jump start.

What kind of storage times are you guys seeing without the need for a battery tender?

I've sent 3 emails asking when the ECU tune for the 2020 models will be available. No response. I'd rather spend more money with a different vendor than do business with someone unprofessional.

Can anyone tell me what paint is used on the vanderhalls exterior? Is it a gel coat or base coat clear coat or something else?
